The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research was founded in Vilna, Poland, in 1925 and relocated to New York City in 1940. In 1944 and again in 1945 they hosted major exhibitions of work by Roman Vishniac. The institute's collections are organized by topic rather than by photographer. Some fully identified Roman Vishniac prints are in Record Group 1223.

The George Eastman House in Rochester, NY, is one of the first museums dedicated to photography with extesive holdings in photography, film and technology. It opened to the public in 1949 in George Eastman's mansion.
The Fotostiftung Schweiz has had a significant collection of work by Roman Vishniac dating from 1983 when they hosted a major exhibition of Vishniac's work. There are approximately 253 works in the Vishniac collection.
